The crowdfunding effort was launched weeks after Kwesi Arthur took to social media to allege that his former management was demanding $150,000 from him for the use of his own images — a development that sparked widespread debate within the music industry and among fans.
However, Kwesi Arthur publicly distanced himself from the fundraiser shortly after it went live, stating that he had no prior knowledge of the campaign and urged the public to disregard it.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Kwaw Kese explained that his actions were driven purely by goodwill. According to him, he believed that leveraging the combined influence and loyal fan base he shares with Kwesi Arthur could help raise funds to support the young rapper in resolving the financial dispute with his former management company, Ground Up Chale.
Kwaw Kese emphasized that there was no ulterior motive behind the initiative, stressing that he had no intention of personally benefiting from the funds raised.
He maintained that every dollar contributed was intended solely to assist Kwesi Arthur.
In light of the concerns raised and Kwesi Arthur’s public response, Kwaw Kese said he has taken the decision to refund all donations to contributors, bringing the brief but controversial fundraising effort to an end.
