Two Police Officers Killed in Crash on Ofoase–Ayirebi Road

Off-duty officers die after motorcycle collides with stationary tricycle in Eastern Region

Two police officers stationed at the Ofoase Divisional Command in the Akyemansa District of the Eastern Region have died following a tragic road accident on the Ofoase–Ayirebi road.

The deceased officers have been identified as Lance Corporal Isaac Anti and Constable Thomas Allonyor.

Reports indicate that the two officers were riding a motorcycle when it crashed into a stationary tricycle, popularly known as an “aboboyaa.” The incident occurred while they were off duty and travelling from Ofoase to Ayirebi to purchase food.

Lance Corporal Anti reportedly died instantly at the scene due to the impact of the collision. Constable Allonyor sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the Brenase Health Centre for treatment but was later pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Sources say the owner of the tricycle fled the scene after realising the victims were police officers, allegedly out of fear of possible reprisals from members of the community.

Police have since begun investigations to determine the exact circumstances that led to the crash. Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased officers have been deposited at a morgue for preservation and autopsy.
