Ghana’s Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has apologised to motorists for the inconvenience caused by a road diversion at the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange in Accra.
The minister acknowledged the heavy congestion experienced by commuters and appealed to the public to bear with authorities as road works continue in the area.
Diversion Linked to Ongoing Road Construction
The traffic diversion forms part of construction and expansion works aimed at improving road infrastructure around the interchange and nearby sections of the motorway.
Authorities say the temporary traffic arrangement is necessary to allow contractors to carry out key construction activities safely and efficiently.
The Tetteh Quarshie Interchange is one of the busiest traffic junctions in Accra, linking major routes including Liberation Road and the motorway toward Madina and Adenta.
Motorists Advised to Cooperate with Traffic Management
Motorists travelling through the area have reported long traffic delays since the diversion was introduced, particularly during peak hours.
In response, the Roads Minister assured commuters that the works are part of broader efforts to improve traffic flow and road infrastructure in the capital.
He urged drivers to cooperate with traffic officers and follow alternative routes and traffic signs while the construction work continues.
Authorities say the project will ultimately help reduce congestion and improve mobility along one of Accra’s most critical road corridors.
