Augustus Andrews Nana Kwasi, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has firmly rejected allegations that he sold the party’s 2020 general election results in the region.
The claims resurfaced during the heated 2022 NDC regional executives elections, when rumors swirled that a committee of inquiry had indicted Nana Kwasi for handing victory to opponents.
Breaking his silence in an exclusive interview with Kojo Marfo on Fakye TV’s DayBreak morning show, Nana Kwasi dismissed the accusations as baseless.
“They said I, the Regional Chairman, sold the elections. How can a regional chairman sell an election as an individual? How can you do that?” he questioned.
Nana Kwasi highlighted his track record, noting he boosted the party’s presidential vote share from 24% to 26.9% in 2020.
Despite the smears, regional delegates re-elected him in 2022, a decision he attributes to their recognition of his contributions.
“The party people knew the great things in me,” he said. “To be honest with you, the 2024 elections have shown that.”
