Management of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has suspended two doctors and two nurses over allegations that they failed to provide emergency treatment to a hit-and-run victim who later passed away.
In a statement issued on Monday, February 23, 2026, the hospital confirmed that the four staff members were interdicted in accordance with its administrative procedures.
A special committee has been set up to thoroughly examine the events leading to the incident and the victim’s death.
The deceased, 29-year-old engineer Charles Amissah of Promasidor Ghana Limited, suffered severe shoulder injuries in a hit-and-run accident at the Circle Overpass in Accra on February 6, 2026.
He was initially stabilized by Emergency Medical Services personnel and prepared for transfer to a medical facility for further treatment.

However, reports suggest he was unable to gain admission at the Police Hospital, Ridge Hospital, and Korle Bu Teaching Hospital due to a shortage of available beds. While at Korle Bu, he reportedly suffered cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead.
Hospital management says it expects full cooperation from all individuals involved as the committee works to ensure a fair and transparent investigation.
The hospital reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, transparency, and the delivery of quality healthcare, noting that further updates will be provided once the inquiry is concluded.
