Base Movement Unveils Nana Agyeiwaa Baffoe-Bonny Michaels as Parliamentary Candidate
KUMASI, Ghana — The Base Movement has officially unveiled Nana Agyeiwaa Baffoe-Bonny Michaels, a 22-year-old student lawyer, as its parliamentary candidate for the Manhyia South Constituency, signalling what the movement describes as a fresh approach to leadership ahead of Ghana’s next parliamentary elections.
The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Base Movement Conference Room in Ashtown, Kumasi, where the young aspirant outlined her vision for the constituency and called for a new style of leadership focused on service, accountability and practical solutions.
Speaking to journalists, Nana Agyeiwaa Baffoe-Bonny Michaels said her decision to contest the parliamentary seat is driven by a desire to provide leadership that is accessible and responsive to the needs of residents.
“I am inspired by the conviction that our constituency deserves accessible, accountable and solution-driven leadership,” she stated.
She stressed that young people must be given greater opportunities to contribute to national development, adding that addressing unemployment, empowering the youth and promoting inclusive development would be among her key priorities if elected.
Officials of the Base Movement described her candidature as part of the group’s broader vision to introduce a new generation of leaders committed to public service and community development.
The declaration positions Nana Agyeiwaa Baffoe-Bonny Michaels among the emerging political figures seeking to reshape the electoral contest in Manhyia South, a constituency traditionally dominated by Ghana’s two major political parties.
