Asante Kotoko board disappointed with 8th-place finish in 2025/26 GPL; apologizes

The Porcupine Warriors gave up a 1-0 lead at home to lose 2-1 to Swedru All Blacks in their final game of the season on Sunday, May 24.

The record champions had a torrid season, travelling with three coaches before end.

They lost the Super Clash at home, just a few days after Abdul-Karim Zito tendered in his resignation.

“This outcome falls far below the standards, expectations, and ambitions of our great club,” the board said about the club’s position.

“While football always offers another opportunity to rise again, we acknowledge that this season’s performance is one to forget.”

It hinted at “decisive measures” in the coming days “to ensure the club returns to the level befitting its rich history and stature”.

The board and management expressed  gratitude to all supporters for their loyalty, apologising to them for a disappointing season.

“We sincerely apologise for the disappointment and frustration caused by our performance this season.”

It assured them that every effort will be made to restore Asante Kotoko to the summit of Ghanaian and African football once again.

“We remain committed to building a stronger and a more competitive team capable of delivering the successes our supporters deserve.”
