Wales will take on Ghana for the first time in a senior men’s international match at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. Kick-off time for the historic encounter is yet to be confirmed.
The friendly will mark the first time an African nation has played a senior men’s international in Wales. Craig Bellamy’s side will come up against a talented Ghana squad featuring key players such as Jordan Ayew, Antoine Semenyo, Iñaki Williams and Mohammed Kudus.
The Black Stars have already secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where they have been drawn in a challenging group alongside England national football team, Croatia national football team and Panama national football team.

Wales’ only previous match against an African nation in men’s international football dates back to June 1998, when they faced Tunisia in Tunis—a match that featured current head coach Craig Bellamy as a player.
Their hopes of joining the tournament in North America depend on the outcome of the upcoming play-off pathway in March. Bellamy’s team will first face Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team on Thursday, March 26. If they advance, they will meet either Italy national football team or Northern Ireland national football team in the play-off final on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.
Meanwhile, Ghana have also lined up a series of high-profile friendlies against Austria national football team, Germany national football team and Mexico national football team. The matches will provide head coach Otto Addo with valuable preparation ahead of the World Cup, which will be hosted across Canada, Mexico and the United States.
Ticket information for the Wales vs Ghana fixture will be announced in due course.
